A Crap Day at Kona

That was my third time in Kona for the IM World Champs.  It was not a pretty day.  Something was up
from the beginning of the race. I had to get a puncture fixed on my front wheel before I even
started..... that left me a little stressed.  The swim was ok, but I never really found my groove.

The bike was ok, but I never felt amazing.  I had a really rough patch around mile 60 to 80 where my
watts dropped to below 160 and I was not keeping down any of my nutrition.  Then my legs came back
and I was up again over 200.

But I noticed that I had a bit of gas towards the end of the bike.  On to the run, I knew something was
right, but not sure what. The gas continued.  At mile 21 on the run I was in 8th place and was confident
of bringing home a top 10 finish.  But my gut had other plans.  All of a sudden it decided to join the
race and it ended up running quicker than me.  No more details necessary.

It was a horrible and embarrassing experience.  Im about to fly to Perth to race the ITU Long Distance
World Champs this weekend in the hope to use my fitness from Kona and rebound with a great result.
For those who supported the auction, we raised over \$9,000!  There are still 3 hotels I will re-schedule
on Ebay this week.
